Stick It With Dublin Urban Art

Simak!
Please introduce yourself.
My name is Dublin Urban Art and I currently on a sabbatical, but between 2008 and 2015 I snapped approx 30,000 photographs of graffiti, street art and urban art in Dublin, Ireland.

What's the story behind your street art name?
I originally had a short lived website called Dublin City Graffiti but I soon discovered I disliked that label as I love all forms of expression; tags, throw-ups, pieces, stickers, stencils, paste-ups, large murals etc and don't care what category it technically falls into so I used the moniker 'Urban Art' as a simple catch all name. So I set up a FB page and called it Dublin Urban Art: https://www.facebook.com/Dublin-Urban-Art-286941637998294/

How is the sticker scene in your city or country?
The sticker scene is quite healthy here in Dublin. Like most things it goes through phases. During the summer there is definitely more stickers popping up around the place especially from travelling sticker artists and Irish artists waiting for the good weather.

What's the most important, quantity or quality?
My favourite type of sticker that I love photographing is the hand-drawn, simple and graphic character based sticker, usually drawn on an A4 self-adhesive sheet and cut out to the shape of the character. I love finding these as some effort has gone into the making of them. I will usually photograph them several times on my travels and document the fading, weathering, ripping and natural destruction of the sticker. The lifespan shots can be great.
There is a great Italian artist called Vadis who created hundreds of individual hand-drawn stickers and placed them all over Dublin. They were usually done on an orange or yellow self-adhesive paper. So for me quality would be most important but some artists can have both!
I also love the simple 'Hello My Name Is' stickers that are found everywhere. And some of the graphically design illustration and printed stickers are very cool. In these cases quantity seemed to be priority and it worked!

Can you share us your opinion about sticker art?
The slap tag or sticker is an essential and exciting part of a vibrant urban art scene and Dublin Urban Art especially loves documenting it. When you are clued in to the sticker scene you notice that any walk around your city is never boring and your head and eyes are always moving from left to right scanning the walls, lamp posts, doorways etc of your immediate environment looking for your next visual fix which usually comes in the form of sticker art. It is the most abundant form of expression on the street and most graffiti and street artists I know have done some from of sticker art over the years.

Terima kasih Dublin Urban Art! Suatu kisah yang menarik untuk dibagi. Semoga lancar dan sukses kedepan dan tetap mengaum!
