Stick It With Lucky Gnome

Chicago tidak hanya terkneal dengan klub bola basketnya saja, tetapi juga dengan salah seorang sticker artist kenalan saya yaitu Lucky Gnome. Ia benar-benar merepresentasikan Chicago kedaloam kancah gambar tempel dunia. Mari kita simak saja!

Please introduce yourself.

My name is Juan a.k.a Lücky Gnomë. I've been doing this since summer of 2013.  I'm from Chicago, Illinois, United States of America.

What's the story behind your street art name?

Well it’s funny, it all started when I bought a gnome for my girlfriend’s garden, then I noticed I kept buying her more gnomes. It was getting stupid so I channeled it to stickers, then it took off.

How is the sticker scene in your city or country?

The sticker scene here in Chicago is pretty big or getting there. There's a lot of artist here that do it or some that are passing through that get up.

How you make your artworks, using what kind of technique?

I usually draw or Photoshop. I also do stencils and wheat pasting.

How did you play with your stickers on the streets, did you quite often make a collaboration?
Sometimes I do make collaboration with some other artists if they send me stuff. I usually stick them with mine. As for the streets I seem to stick them everywhere. I try to cover to cover a neighborhood one at a time but my favorite is newspaper boxes.

 

What's the most important, quantity or quality?

Either way is fine. It really depends on my funds. If I’m good then I go vinyl or paper gloss. If I’m hurting then it’s drawings or photocopies with glue. Recently I got into buying a custom stamp. It’s actually easier to mass produce with the help of the US postal labels.

 

Can you share us your opinion about sticker art?

Well sticker art is fun for me and quicker way of getting out there without the risk of getting caught.
