Negeri Singapura tak kami sangka menyimpan
potensi dalam dunia perstikeran. Entah bagaimana caranya, kami berhasil
menjalin korespondensi dengan salah satu rekan kami disana. Dia adalah Grum P.
Simak!
Please introduce yourself.
I go by the
name, Grum P.
What's the story behind your street art name?
And the
story behind that name is as simple as what people thought of me when I'm quiet
or alone, having my own train of thoughts.
How is the sticker scene in your city or country?
The
stickers scene here is pretty decent although personally, I feel that the
sticker scenes in other parts of the world are really impressive and huge.
How you make your artworks, using what kind of
technique?
How i go
about doing my artworks depends on the supplies I have. Let's just say that I
have been super low on supplies since I lost my job. But creating art is my
form of escape and expression. So I will make do with whatever I have and hope
for the best; hopefully, soon; I can treat myself to a collection of Posca
water based markers or copic markers, acrylic paints along with some canvases,
etc. So for now... I am making art using newspapers, some random papers I have
lying around and i have a little left of thermal stickers. And i paint them
with the remaining of what little left in a tube of acrylic paint, i color with
the various colored pencils that was donated to me, and on rare occasions, i
would only use pencils.
How did you play with your stickers on the
streets, did you quite often make a collaboration?
Usually i
would mail my stickers out or just hand out my stickers randomly to people who
willing to accept them. Nowadays I don’t go around sticking my stickers
like I used to. I did quite a number of collaborations which for one turned
into a t-shirt production. And the most recent project, I collaborated with a
couple of very young and special artists and it’s still ongoing.
What's the most important, quantity or quality?
To
be honest, between quantity and quality... they both are equally important.
Can you share us your opinion about sticker art?
Sticker art
has been around for very long and it continues to grow strong. Personally, I
love sticker art especially the hand drawn ones. I love seeing the raw artworks
of an artist. And i really hope to see more of sticker exhibitions happening
and for me to actually be able to attend, to be physically there to see the
whole exhibition.
Terima kasih saudaraku. Meskipun kita berpisah
secara negara, namun kita sangat dekat secara bertetangga di kawasan Asia
Tenggara. Suatu waktu kita bertemu entah di Nusantara atau di Negeri Singa! Salam
tempel!
