Mau tahu cerita dibalik Haevi? Simak!
Please introduce yourself.
My name is Haevi, I live in Berlin Germany and my first
sticker on the street was in 2006. Since that time I try different techniques to realize my artworks.
My first exhibition was in 2009. It was a sticker exhibition with my man
Superfat Cat from Hamburg in the Hatch Sticker
Museum in Berlin. Since then I have participated in many exhibitions.
What's the story behind your street art name?
I got my name nickname from my friends in the elementary
school in the early 80`s. The
name
"heavy"
has
nothing to do with
the word "heavy". It
was derived from
my last name.
How is the sticker scene in your city or country?
I think we have a great sticker scene in our city and also
in the larger cities of Germany. The artists
also
know
each other and
meet
to glue stickers
or make a collaboration together. That`s is really nice. In my district “Berlin
Friedrichshain”, all street lamps
and
traffic
lights are full of many stickers. Sometimes you
have to look far for
a
free area.
How you make your artworks, using what kind of technique?
I use different techniques for my artwork. For my handmade
stickers I use waterproof markers. For my digital artworks I love to use the
vector program illustrator. My paste ups and canvases are painted with brushes
and acrylics. And all walls are of course sprayed with spray cans.
How did you play with your stickers on the streets, did
you quite often make a collaboration?
I try to glue my
stickers on readily visible places and hope they do not disappear too quickly.
in Berlin you should always stick to higher places, because it could be that
your stickers are pasted over or destroyed. I like it to glue the back sides of
street signs. I really like collaboration, unfortunately I do not often time
for it, so I'm rather less of it. But I have designed some collaboration
stickers with other artists. This makes a lot of fun and so can represent a
sticker several artists.
What's the most important, quantity or quality?
In any case the quality is the most
important for me.
Can you share us your opinion
about sticker art?
I
find stickers are
a great way
for me to bring quickly my art into
the public space.
You can meet other sticker artists from all
over the world.
So it is now a
global phenomenon.
And it
is also
very cheap to make street art. All you
need is
an idea, sticker paper and
a pen.
