Stick It With Mute Proheroes

Yunani. Sebut saja Zeus, Kuil Parthenon, Hercules bahkan sampai jawara Piala Eropa 2014. Tapi kita tidak akan membahas tentang itu. Kami akan mengenalkan pada macan seorang sticker artist bernama Mute Proheroes, seperti apa kisahnya? Simak!

Please introduce yourself.
Mute aka Pro Heroes, born in Greece, graduated from the graphic arts school, and is addicted to paper and color. "Stuck" with the sticker art and illustration around 2014. Two years later, the classic astronaut sticker has traveled almost all over the world.

What's the story behind your street art name?
The name, "Mute", came by chance, I liked the combination of letters. "Professional Heroes" shows the need that the world needs heroes. I made it a profession!

How is the sticker scene in your city or country?
Sticker scene in Greece, unfortunately, is not very popular yet. I do not know many people that are into it. Graffiti ,on the other hand, is high level and Greeks have a worldwide reputation.

How you make your artworks, using what kind of technique?
I design them digitally only with my Wacom. I am addicted with Illustrator paths but I also detest straight lines.

How did you play with your stickers on the streets, did you quite often make a collaboration?
Usually, when I go out in the morning, I always carry stickers with me and when I see a good spot, I just slap one on it! As far as collaborations go, there hasn't been any yet, but any proposal is ,of course, welcomed.

What's the most important, quantity or quality?
For me, it's always quality.

Can you share us your opinion about sticker art?
We have done some big steps forward through festivals and exhibitions and the exchange between designers have raised the level of design and quality! I believe, if this continues we can make and organize festivals similar to graffiti ones.

Terima kasih kawan!

Review Pameran Stiker Mulafest, Madrid Spanyol

Bagaimanakah ceritanya? Simak!

How was the atmosphere of the exhibition?
There are many artists making their own stickers here in Spain but cleaning services are very effective removing it... So it's very difficult to see big combos, for example, in Madrid. Most of them are removed after a few hours or days of being placed and, sometimes, it's better to look for a strategic site that put many stickers in sites which are seen, but not for a long time.

Was there any feedback from the visitors after see the exhibition?
What we wanted to achieve with the event, was to do something good for the community while introducing many artists who are doing a great job in the world of street art through their stickers and, is such an ephemeral art, which doesn't have the same visibility as other disciplines.

How about your personal opinion about the exhibition?
Unfortunately, do not collect as much as expected due to legal problems and, to develop within the festival Mulafest, we had to adapt to their standards. Concerning the participation of artists, we are very happy and grateful because we could not paste all the stickers you sent us and that's really great.

How you create this event?
The idea was to help, just that. Help the NGO "Share a coffe for" donating 100% of the auction for all your projects and also help artists, like us, to reach more people. To all who approached the stand we explained the origin and we gave them the names of the artists so that they can find them. We hope you liked it.

Manis sekali. Senang bisa mendengarnya. Sampai berjumpa di lain kesempatan. Salam tempel!

Stick It With Brain

Simak!

Please introduce yourself.
Hello, My friends call me Brain. I am a street artist from San Jose California USA. Dealing in stickers and other street art mediums.

What's the story behind your street art name?
Honestly I have had many.. My mind doesn't seem to work like most whom pick a moniker and stick with it for recognition or fame associated to the tag. I seem to always change and evolve with the thoughts running through my mind. I have been running under the artist name of BLST which is a mix of my initials and the ST. which is short for street.

How is the sticker scene in your city or country?
The sticker scene in California is very strong. I am based in the Bay Area and cities like San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose are very deep in the Graffiti, Street Art, Punk and Hip Hop Cultures. I feel like the sticker heads fit right in with all that.

How you make your artworks, using what kind of technique?
Most of my designs are created with digital imaging or photo manipulation. I will use pop culture then sprinkle in my own flavor or I will set up and take photos of different things and then edit them down into my final designs.

How did you play with your stickers on the streets, did you quite often make a collaboration?
I am pretty much a solo artist, I am usually getting up very quickly in populated areas in the middle of the day which doesn't allow much time for me to put up several stickers in one area at a time.

What's the most important, quantity or quality?
I love both. When I first started slap tagging I was printing many designs on my home printer (which I still do) but have since moved most my designs to being printed professionally on die cut vinyl for very clean, colorful, long lasting and weather proof stickers.

Can you share us your opinion about sticker art?
I fell in love with the sticker community as it is a great way to get your art out to the public quickly and you are able to easily trade it with other artists from all over the world. Not too mention the fantastic sticker art created by so many folks is very inspiring to me.

Terima kasih Brain.
