Stick It With Buat Kamu

Inilah dia seorang seniman stiker, wheat paste, muralis, komikus asal Bumi Priangan. Putut Pramudiko namanya. Perkenalan kami dengannya pertama kali di Jogja Biennale awal November 2015. Setelah bercengkrama, barulah kami tahu bahwa ia aktif dalam pergerkan dunia gambar tempel di Bandung. Hal ini dapat dimaklumi sebab ia mengambil kuliah di salah satu perguruan tingi seni di Kota Kembang. Inilah sekelumit kisahnya dibalik nama Buat Kamu?.

Perkenalkan sebelumnya nama aku Putut Pramudiko atau lebih biasa menggunakan nama jahat "BUAT KAMU?" dengan maksud lain agar dalam memberikan apapun entah berupa barang, jasa, atau sebuah cinta diberikan dengan rasa tulus tampa pamrih sedikitpun.

Berawal dari nama biasa pada tahun 2011 yang hadir tanpa perencanaan sebelumnya di sebuah Padepokan Silat 212 dengan menggunakan teknik stencil dan pada tahun 2012 menggunakan teknik cukil kayu dengan pelat papan MDF berukuran kurang lebih 8cm x 8cm di sebarkan antara teman ke teman terlebih dahulu.

Penyebaran gambar tempelpun tak hanya di kalangan teman-teman Padepokan Silat 212 semata lalu merambah pada plang rambu-rambu lalu lintas Kota Kembang. Parkiran sepeda motor di mana aku meninggalkan beberapa gambar tempel pada spakboard motor matic.

Secara diam-diam saat menanti lampu hijau di jalan raya aku rekatkan pada kendaraan umum, angkot, truck, bus, mobil angkut barang, spakbor bagian belakang motor atau membagikan ke pengendara secara langsung. Saat menyaksikan acara pentas musik aku lemparkan ke arah para pengunjung dan bila berkesempatan menemui artisnya aku berikan secara langsung.

Pada mulanya di padepokan silat 212 Bandung para pemuda yang bermain gambar tempel hanya beberapa saja itupun hanya musiman, namun seiring dengan banyaknya acara-acara pameran di luar kota maupun luar negeri mereka mulai tertarik kembali untuk bermain gambar tempel dengan memerkenalkan nama jahatnya masing-masing penuh beraneka ragam gaya visual yang disajikan sesuai karakter personalnya.

Terima kasih Putut Pramudiko. Pria bergaya klasik nan kocak ini terus aktif didalam pergerakan dunia street art Kota Bandung. Macan dapat menemui karyanya bertebaran di sudut-sudut kota. Yogyakarta merupakan salah satu kawah candradimuka karyanya. kami sempat menemui beberapa disana dan sampai awal tahun 2016 tetap ada. Salut. Dibalik dunia kesenimanannya, ia juga merupakan salah satu vokalis band rekaannya sendiri. Sungguh seorang dengan multitalenta.

Pindah Alamat. New Address.

Setelah hampir tiga setengah tahun bermukim di kota Yogyakarta, Easy Tiger, Asia #1 Stickers Museum harus berpindah alamat ke Pulau Dewata. Banyak sudah kegiatan yang kami lakukan di Yogyakarta serta jaringan yang kami bentangkan, namun apa daya, tuntutan hidup memaksa kami harus beranjak meninggalkan dari Kota Gudeg. Setelah vakum sebulan lebih, kami mendapatkan sebuah kontrakan yang nantinya kami sulap menjadi homebase kami di bilangan Tambaksari, Sanur. Bagi mereka yang belum mengetahui siapa kami Easy Tiger, Asia #1 Stickers Museum, berikut adalah sebuah cerita pendak mengenai sejarah lahirnya museum gambar tempel ini. Cerita ini merupakan saduran berbahasa Inggris yang sempat tampil dalam sebuah blog yang mengambil basis dari New York, Amerika Serikat.

“I [went on] a motorcycle tour from Java to Sumatra from December 2010 to February 2011. It was remarkable achievement for me cause I used my classic Japanese bike (Honda CB 100cc, 1976). Along the way I saw nature, culture, and got a lot of stickers. Instead of sticking them on my helmet, I just kept them for no reason. It was because I had no copy of them, and limited edition (in terms that I don’t wanted to lose it cause it’s an artifact from my journey). Then on 2012 I got a chance to visit Electric Lady Land Museum in Amsterdam and it made me kept thinking of what kind of museum that I should build. 

Then voila, I remembered my motorcycle clubs stickers I had before my trip. I decided to turn the idea into a museum in August 2012 (collecting, hunting, online buying, exchange, asking for donations, etc.). What I meant before with ignorable stuff is sticker is great art in a small size. People never notice it. If they have it, they stick it. They never think of the story behind it or if they won’t see it again in the future. In terms of preserving this culture, I start to build this art movement. In Indonesia, lots of people just laugh at classic or vintage stickers from 80’s now. Those stickers are so rare. So it’s my duty to track them, give back the good old memories. In fact, it’s still relevant with nowadays issues such ‘quote’ stickers like ‘silence is gold,’ ‘time is money,’ etc. 

To prevent this stuff from being abandoned in the future, I also preserve the stickers from present day. I’m thinking about the legacy for the next generation. Whether it’s for art or research or exhibition or… just for laughs. I bet 100%, once we see stickers from our youth era, we will at least smile. That’s the point. To keep the spirit alive. Even it’s small, cheap, full of tacky or cheesy words, or vulgar, or whatever, I’ll collect all of them. They are the treasure, the legend itself. Well, actually the place is my dorm so it’s pretty small for a ‘museum.’ But I dare to claim it though. I got involved in this project when I had inspiration from visiting a unique museum in Amsterdam called Electric Lady Land Museum. 

After that I’m so eager to play a role as a museum director. And voila, I started the museum about a month later. In fact, the stickers passion is genetic in my blood since I was 15. I’m an old bike rider so we collect lots of motorcycle clubs stickers. And that push me to start to think about how to preserve this art so I can share it with others (like vintage stickers, limited stickers, etc.). I love museums and like being a museum guide, but I never thought about being the director. The way I saw the director of the museum in Amsterdam influenced me to build a small project but something fun and worthy to inspire people. I combine it with vintage stuff, music, and books, so it’ll entertain my friends who just want to chill out. We have a radio though. Haha. So yes, it’s worth having this project.”

Negeri Jerman sekali lagi mengirimkan salah seorang seniman mereka untuk kami wawancarai. Adalah 4dhesive 4ddict dari Berlin yang bersedia membagi ceritanya bersama museum. Ternyata ia adalah seorang kawan dari Oli, direktur kepala bos besar dari Hatch Kingdom, museum stiker pertama di dunia. Dunia sempit sekali. Mari saja kita simak bersama Stick It With 4dhesive 4ddict.

Please introduce yourself.

Hi, I´m Pierre Bonse from Cologne, Germany. I´m 30 years old and since I can think I´m fascinated by and addicted to stickers. It started at school with filling a sticker album and trading stickers. Later, when I started skateboarding, my sticker passion grew with me. Like almost every skater I had a shoebox under my bed with some skate and street wear stickers in it. About five or six years ago I decided to buy more and more stickers and to put them in frames to hang them on my walls. Today my collection comprises over 6000 pieces and I´m still running into skate shops asking for stickers, buying them on eBay or Facebook or just trading with other freaks.

What's the story behind your street art name?

Well, I like to call myself 4dhesive 4ddict, which perfectly reflects what I am. No, I´m not sniffing glue. I´m just addicted to these little pieces of art, which you can stick everywhere you want. The 4´s instead of A´s is just a little gimmick to keep it a bit abstract.

 

How is the sticker scene in your city or country?

I´d say that the sticker scene in Germany is pretty big and versatile. There are many graffiti and street artists, especially in big cities like Cologne and Berlin you can see pretty nice pieces on nearly every traffic sign and things like that. Moreover there´s the Hatch Kingdom in Berlin, also a sticker museum and mail order service for stickers. And then we have a lot of private collectors who keep their stickers just like a treasure. There are some German Facebook groups where you can buy, sell and trade with like-minded persons.

How you make your artworks, using what kind of technique?

I don´t create stickers myself, but I´m into collages and arranging stickers in frames. What I like most are cut out forms instead of just rectangles and circles. I love to arrange different forms so that they fit together perfectly. It´s always tricky to get as much stickers as possible in one frame. 

How did you play with your stickers on the streets, did you quite often make a collaboration?

Most of my stickers will never be peeled off. If I have some doubles, sometimes I stick them to my furniture, Notebook, skateboards or on my car.

What's the most important, quantity or quality?

Definitely quality! I´m not a big friend of thin paper stickers. In my opinion they have to be strong and waterproof.

Can you share us your opinion about sticker art?

Sticker art is so fascinating to me. Stickers are so simple and easy to handle but can also have such a strong message. You can create pieces of art of almost every object just by putting some stickers on it. I love it!
